Big Trip
This recent show is a combination of two suites of work that echo life’s collective journey.
The first suite of work borrows from the sprit of the still life genre, but plays with scale in a way that distorts meaning. These paintings are metaphors for a life in motion, the burdens we bear and the precious cargo we carry along with us.
Along with these works, is a series depicting vintage roadside signs. Upon closer examination, these works feature re-imagined lyrics from the Canadian sonic landscape. Familiar and yet unfamiliar, these works cast a spell of nostalgia on the viewer and promote a sense of place. As imagined destinations, these paintings stand alone, looking for a place to happen.
